Two Storms was recorded in the rainforest of the Peruvian Amazon, in the vicinity of San Roque de Cumbaza, where a project was underway to improve access to drinking water for the local community. The short video juxtaposes two parallel sequences: a gathering rainstorm and a worker resting along the bank of a small creek. Unfolding simultaneously, these actions create an audiovisual counterpoint—at once interconnected and detached.
The work stages an encounter between a backhoe and an approaching storm, offering a quiet, poetic reflection on the politics of development, the rhetoric of progress, and the fragile entanglement between human intervention and climate.
Dos Tormentas fue registrado en la selva amazónica del Perú, en las inmediaciones de San Roque de Cumbaza, donde se desarrollaba un proyecto para mejorar el acceso al agua potable de la comunidad local. El video breve yuxtapone dos secuencias paralelas: una tormenta que se aproxima y un trabajador descansando a la orilla de un pequeño arroyo. Al desplegarse simultáneamente, ambas acciones generan un contrapunto audiovisual que es, a la vez, interconectado y distante.
La obra pone en escena el encuentro entre una retroexcavadora y la lluvia inminente, proponiendo una reflexión poética y silenciosa sobre la política del desarrollo, la retórica del progreso y la frágil interrelación entre la intervención humana y el clima.
