Two Storms

HD video projector, stereo sound
Duration: 6 minutes

Two Storms was recorded at the rainforest of the Peruvian Amazon, in the surrounding area of San Roque de Cumbaza during July of 2013. Near the village, a development was underway to improve the provision of drinking water for the local population.
In this short video, two sequences are juxtaposed: a worker resting at the shore of a small creek and a looming storm. Both actions evolve in parallel creating an audiovisual counterpoint, at once interrelated and disconnected.
Two Storms explores the encounter of two materialities - a steal colossus and weightless clouds - suggesting larger themes critical to our time, such as the ecological concern of climate change and other man-made detritus and the geopolitics of the changing landscapes of the rain forest.
